Back to Swoon: Cosy Season, Sisterhood, and a New Book Club Journey

Back to Swoon: Cosy Season, Sisterhood, and a New Book Club Journey

There’s something about September that feels like turning the first crisp page of a brand-new book. 🍂
The air sharpens, the evenings grow longer, and suddenly we’re all reaching for blankets, tea, and stories that warm us from the inside out. While the rest of the world goes “back to school,” here at The Swoon Society we’re going back to swoon—into fictional worlds, cosy rituals, and the kind of reading that feels like home.

Autumn Reading: The Season of Comfort and Connection

Autumn has always been the season of readers. The cosy jumpers, the candlelight, the book stacks teetering like promises beside the sofa—it’s the perfect invitation to slow down and fall (quite literally) into stories. For us, it’s about more than the books themselves; it’s about what they awaken in us: yearning, connection, a sense of belonging.

Right now, Emily is deep in A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, tumbling into Nesta’s story with all its rage, healing, and fire—trying to catch up with the others who are already stepping into the sprawling world of Crescent City. It’s a reminder of how books can catch us in our most human moments and still hand us back to ourselves stronger. That’s the kind of reading autumn asks of us—the big, emotional, all-consuming kind.

Beginning Our Sister Book Club: Crescent City Awaits

This year, we’re starting something new—a family book club. Together (and at very different paces) we’re diving into Sarah J. Maas’s Crescent City series.

We’re spread across different corners of life:

  • One sister is raising four children under eight (yes, a whole whirlwind of energy and bedtime stories of another kind).

  • Another is living by the sea in Devon, where the waves sound like their own kind of poetry.

  • Emily is at home, juggling work and teenagers, catching stolen moments to read Nesta’s fiery journey.

  • Ella is balancing a job, a pro-athlete partner, and of course, The Swoon Society—the constant thread of our story.

Life looks different for all of us, but the act of reading together stitches us back into the same narrative. Whether it’s late-night WhatsApps about favourite characters or the joy of realising we’ve all underlined the same aching sentence, this book club is already a reminder that stories are best when shared.

Why We’re Back to Swoon This Autumn

For us, “back to swoon” isn’t about the classroom or the timetable—it’s about entering a new season of reading with open arms and open hearts. It’s about celebrating that bookish ache we all know too well: the longing when you close the final page, the way fictional worlds make our real ones brighter.

So this autumn, whether you’re wrapping up in a blanket with a fantasy epic, or sneaking a few chapters during nap time, know that you’re not reading alone. You’re reading with us—with a whole community of swooners who believe in the beauty of books and the connections they bring.

✨ Here’s to cosy nights, magical worlds, and the joy of belonging—to each other, to our stories, to the swoon. ✨
